Day 48 of 365

Teresa and I had a very nice walk along the beach this morning. Teresa photographed rocks this morning, many, many rocks. But the photograph of this heart-shaped rock was destined to be Teresa’s photograph of the day. My photograph of the day is of clouds, above the ocean’s horizon.

•2013/02/16 • Leave a Comment

Today was our weekly volunteer day at the local animal shelter. Teresa and I arrived at the shelter about 10 minutes early. Teresa’s photograph of the day was of clouds and the hilltops looking to the north from the shelter. My photograph of the day was of the local softball fields, also looking to the north from the shelter.

Today, Teresa took a walk. A very long walk. Into the courtyard at our apartment building. Must have been maybe 30 or 40 steps. A long walk. Teresa found this Hibiscus flower to photograph. Then I delivered a terribly corny line … “Hi! Biscus!” My photograph of the day is of Mittens, our cat, in the kitchen sink. Mittens is not into doing dishes, but she is into drinking water from the faucet.

Today, Teresa made her Valentine’s Day photographs, a lovely tryptic of rocks and shells shot at the beach and a close-up of a curb with a holiday-appropriate message. Since I made my Valentine’s Day photograph yesterday, my photograph for today is also a tryptic, self-portrait shadows.

Teresa did not feel up to stepping out today, so my beautiful wife’s photograph of the day is of our cat, Mittens. My photograph of the day is of a heart drawn in chalk, on the sidewalk. I spotted this heart early this morning while out on my route, doing my day job.

Teresa and I each photographed shadows on a wall today. Not the same wall, but a wall, nonetheless. Teresa’s photograph is of the shadow cast from a statue. And my photograph is of a shadow cast from a tree.

This morning, Teresa took a walk along the beach, and noticed several tennis balls unceremoniously abandoned at same said beach. Teresa’s ‘quadro-tic’ is of those tennis balls. My photograph of the day is of a flower, hanging upside-down.

Today, Teresa photographed palm trees as we walked back from our weekly trek to the local Farmer’s Market. I photographed Teresa, earlier this morning, in our apartment. We used the light as it came through the living room blinds, directed onto the north-facing wall. The photograph of Teresa is one of nearly a hundred photographs that we shot.

Day 40 of 365: da beach

•2013/02/09 • Leave a Comment

Saturday. My favorite day of the week. Why do people say ‘Thank God it is Friday?’ … when Friday is just another day at work! Anyhoo … Teresa and I walked along the beach this morning. With a camera. Starting to notice a theme? Teresa photographed waves crashing against the rocks along the beach. And I photographed the pier, with clouds overlooking the few surfers awake for their morning session.

The 49ers lost today in their attempt to be only the second team to have won six Superbowls. But that did not stop Teresa and I from shooting photographs. Teresa’s photograph of the day shows the excitement of a local restauranteur, anticipating today’s big game. My photograph of the day is another posted sign, also from a local patron. However, the word jams DOES NOT require an apostrophe …

Teresa and I spent the afternoon with family. After a home-made lasagna lunch, we went to the park for a while, to play catch and to get our exercise. Since Teresa is not as much into playing ball as I, Teresa walked around the park and made some photographs, including her daily photograph, of a lamp-post and pine tree, treated in sepia. My photograph of the day is of our 4-year-old nephew Elias.
